Tommy Martin: Designer
Tommy is the member of the Vertebrate team who has the responsibility of writing all of the content for this site. Including this. I think in the interests of keeping pretension to a minimum I should probably drop this 3rd person stuff...
I tend to describe myself vaguely as a designer and writer. Right now I divide my time between web site design, illustration, photography and occasional bouts of writing. You can find my photographic portfolio at www.tommymartin.co.uk
I'm one part of the team that is Vertebrate, responsible for producing graphics, designing interfaces and generally making large heaps of data accessible and useful.
In complete contradiction to the creative temperament that I seem to have acquired, I've also developed an interest in the code that underpins all the pretty pictures. I'm responsible for writing the HTML/xHTML and CSS code for the front ends of some big database-driven sites.
In the past I've had more, and stranger, jobs than I care to think about. I've directed short films, written screenplays, novels and articles, I've worked as a graphic designer, photographer, lighting gaffer and pasta handler.
