Linkmachine Evolution

The Linkmachine pages remain here for historical purposes only; the Linkmachine has since metamorphosed into Hyperlinkomatic. HLOM, as it's become known to those closest to it, has its very own website here:

www.hyperlinkomatic.com

Back in the old days you would have seen the following...

Linkmachine started life a long time ago (circa 1998) as a simple little database that ran on your local machine. Interaction between Linkmachine and your web browser happened in slow motion via a language called Applescript. This set up was less than ideal. It meant that you had to be using one specified browser, on one specific computer. Which had to be Apple Mac. And you had to have patience.

A bunch of kind souls helped us beta test it, we wrote documentation and promptly adandoned it. The reason for the sudden change in heart was that we became entangled in testing and helping to develop Lasso 5. Lasso and mySQL showed us the error of ways; runtime shareware was so last century, the future was online. Especially for something like Linkmachine which was, after all only useful when you were online.

So that old, offline version of the Linkmachine has been officially superceded by the new online version, which not does all the same things even better and faster, but also adds a new heap of features.
