The UK's Music Publishers Association came to us with a detailed brief for their new site; they wanted to be able to run the whole thing in-house, and they wanted it to provide a whole range of useful services to their members and the public. Pretty much the kind of thing that all websites would do in an ideal world...
The majority of what they needed already existed in the form of the ubiquitous Weblobe. A couple of functions they required were already on the Big List of Things to Build into weblobe and got bumped up to highest priority by the MPA job. A few functions required some custom development (a searchable database of Printed Music Distributors wasn't something that would have made it onto the weblobe feature list on its own).
The new site is online now, featuring:
- Rolling News
- A complete and searchable list of MPA members
- Microsites allowing MPA members to post their own news, mp3's, images, job postings and contact details
- MPA member forums
- Event listing and bookings
- A comprehensive archive of articles, FAQs, policy documents and just about everything you ever want to know about the UK music publishing business
